Although the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and the entire Skywalker Saga are over, there will be plenty of opportunities in the coming years to explore the three-decade gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens even more in other novels, comic books, video games and maybe even TV shows. So perhaps there will come a day when we learn specific details about Sheev Jr’s life, how he met Rey’s mother and what the couple was doing immediately before being killed by Palpatine.
Technically, Gavin O’Connor stayed true to his promise mentioned earlier, as he didn’t make The Way Back as a simple sports movie. It just happens to be a movie that contains sports, but centers its gravity around a man trying to better himself, and the events that happen along the way. No matter how you interpret the film for yourself, it’s undeniably a film that only O’Connor and his talented cast and crew could have made, and we’re all the better for it.
The Hype May Have Settled Down, But It’s Still Among Marvel’s Best
There was a time when we couldn’t quit talking about Black Panther. It became a cultural phenomenon and top box office earner in the early months of 2018 before carrying over its buzz to Oscar season, when at one time, we thought it might have a shot at taking home the top prize for Best Picture. It was an especially exciting time for Marvel and the MCU, but there was a point when the name became bigger than the movie itself.
Known best for playing Agent Smith in The Matrix trilogy, Elrond in The Lord of the Rings franchise, the title role of V for Vendetta, and providing the voice of Megatron in the Transformers films, actor Hugo Weaving starred alongside his niece Samara in her feature film debut, the 2013 Australian crime drama Mystery Road. Her first realization that she had a famous uncle, however, came years earlier when, at age 13 she was watching the Oscar-winning 1994 drag queen comedy The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and much to her surprise, saw her “Uncle Hugs” in a dress.
Shia LaBeouf Is A Better Choice Now To Join Indiana Jones Than He Used To Be
Let’s think back to 2008 for a moment, as Shia LaBeouf was in a very different place in his career. He was the golden boy of the Transformers franchise, star of Disturbia and Disney Channel breakout star. The actor was in his early 20s when Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hit theaters. At the time, it might have felt like the franchise was trying to fit a trendy actor into its thread in order to draw in a larger audience and pass off the hat and whip to the next generation. The storyline did revolve around Mutt finding out he was the son of Indiana Jones, and that’s part of what ticked off fans too.
Avengers: Infinity War shook up the Guardians’ ranks, as in addition to Thanos killing Gamora so he could obtain the Soul Stone, Nebula and Rocket Raccoon were the only team members who survived when The Mad Titan wiped out half of all life in the universe. When Avengers: Endgame rolled around, Star-Lord, Drax, Groot and Mantis were all brought back to life by Hulk’s snap.
1993’s Hocus Pocus was helmed by Kenny Ortega before he went on to direct the High School Musical and Descendant movies for Disney Channel. When the movie originally hit theaters in July 1993, it didn’t make much money, but it has become a staple and tradition during Halloween time.
The likely reason is that it’s simply a personal preference. Middleton talks often about how much she values her time outside in the country with her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—and as a busy mom, it’s much easier to rebuff a nail than it is to re-polish. Not that we’d expect her to show up in neon or nail art, but the queen reportedly prefers pale shades to adorn female royals’ nails.
So we turned our question over to royal style expert Myka Meier: Could there be any deeper meaning behind the change? “There is no official royal protocol that says what the royal family must wear or even what products they should use,” she tells Glamour. “Each senior royal is trusted to make their style and grooming choices, including products they wish to use. While we have seen the Duchess of Cambridge wearing light pink colored or even clear polish in the past, one of her favorite new looks in recent years has actually been no polish at all! Instead she has simply opted for a buffed nail with a naturally squared low-maintenance shape, which not only goes with everything she wears but looks clean-cut, natural, and gorgeous.”
Another thought? You can’t be publicly criticized for a shade you’re not wearing. We certainly loved when Meghan Markle wore a dark polish shade for the British Fashion Awards in 2018, but there were many who did not—and used it as yet another reason to show their dislike for the Duchess of Sussex online.
So, are bare nails about to be the big new trend for spring 2020 thanks to a royal nod of approval? We shall see.
The short shots of their eyes can also be representative of the two Marvel heroes as characters. For example, when Iron Man goes into space, he reacts to it with closing his eyes during the moment, while Cap keeps his eyes wide open. And since Tony Stark has always had more of a bleak approach to the unknown, it’s great symbolism.
During his recent appearance on the ReelBlend podcast, co-writer/director Gavin O’Connor talked about how his co-writer Brad Inglesby originated The Way Back’s path to a rated R release, thanks to the specific quality of the language used in the film’s script. More specifically, O’Connor laid out how that particular factor effected the entire production of the film, as follows:
