Dermstore Sale Memorial Day 2020: The Best Beauty Deals

Online shopping is part of our jobs, so we can confidently state that few sales top a Dermstore sale. Season after season, the online retailer offers sizable discounts on products that rarely go on sale. These—predictably—are the things that don’t need to go on sale because everyone already wants to buy them at full price: your Sunday Riley serums, the best peel pads ever invented, and iconic French hair oils that grace the red carpet often. So when Dermstore rolls out another massive sale, we feel it’s our duty to inform everyone.

Such is the case right now, thanks to the retailer’s Memorial Day Sale, where you can score up 20 percent off all of the above (and more covetable finds) through May 27. If you haven’t browsed through the site before, it stocks your dream mix of big-name brands alongside niche lines that are typically harder to find. You can find a complete list of participating brands here, but to get you started, we rounded up the options that definitely deserve a place in your shopping cart. Just enter the code SUMMER after you’ve stocked up on the Dermstore sale—and thank us later.

Mary-Kate Olsen Was Reportedly Not Enough of a ‘Stay-at-Home Wife’ for Olivier Sarkozy

Yesterday, May 20, it was reported that Mary-Kate Olsen filed for divorce from Olivier Sarkozy over a disagreement about starting a family.

“A few years ago, having a baby was not a priority for her. This has changed,” once source told People. Another claimed “Mary-Kate thought he would budge on that and he hasn’t.” (Sarkozy already has two grown children with his ex-wife, Charlotte Bernard.)

Now it seems that, despite not wanting more children with Olsen, the 50-year-old French banker was reportedly looking for a “stay-at-home wife.” A source told People on May 21, “Mary-Kate is extremely hard working and focused on her business. Her work schedule is beyond disciplined.” In case you forgot, the Olsen twins currently run two major fashion brands, The Row and [Elizabeth and James].

“She is the type of person who would never complain about a 12-hour workday,” the source continued. “Olivier never understood her drive and passion. He would have loved to have a stay-at-home wife.”

According to the source, Olsen rarely takes vacations while “Olivier loves traveling to tropical places with his French friends. He traveled without her several times.”

A fashion insider suggested to People that Sarkozy wanted more of Olsen’s time. “You can’t control a girl who has been on the billionaire track since her 20s,” they said.

James Devaney/Getty Images

People’s report from May 20 described Sarkozy as a “party boy and a big spender” who “loves the high life.”

Meanwhile, a fashion source referred to Mary-Kate Olsen as “more reclusive.” “Mary-Kate prefers to be quiet and alone and doing the things she likes,” they said. “She’s not that interested in socializing—she likes small gatherings with select people. They ended up being apart quite a bit.”

Olsen signed a petition for an emergency divorce on April 17, but it was rejected by a New York judge due to the coronavirus pandemic. “We are only accepting essential/emergency matters for filing. The original filing was rejected by the New York County Clerk because they did not follow the essential-matter procedure,” New York courts spokesman Lucian Chalfen told People. “They refiled under the essential-matter procedure and the matter was referred to the ex parte judge, a New York State Supreme Judge. He decided that it is not essential so they can’t file anything at this point.”

When Your Workout Becomes an Essential Service

Here, Mills tells Glamour what it’s like to juggle remote work with running an essential business in the middle of a pandemic.

On going from startup to essential service

We’ve been in business for a couple of years now and we serve a lot of folks in New York City. So when the shelter in place order was made, obviously we sent our entire team home. Then four days after, we were deemed an essential business. I assume it’s because the Governor wants to keep people moving and people need to do so at home so they’re not crowding the parks and on the streets.

From the founder perspective, it was pretty wild. We had to figure out all new protocols and a completely new way of working so that we could keep everybody safe. It was amazing to see the way that our team really mobilized and figured it out. I think everyone really feels called to serve, to know that we are bringing such an important service to people and we’re helping them feel better in their bodies and their minds. They know that there are so many people that are relying on them to keep them sane and keep them healthy and keep them moving while at home.

On staying sane

I’m reminding myself many times throughout the day to breathe. My son is in pre-k and he’s doing school online. It is stressful. There’s a lot of technology challenges to get through. It’s always those little things that are major stressors. I’m making sure to breathe. I am taking my own advice and I am working out often, just to keep those endorphins going so that hopefully the stress can roll off and not affect me so much.

I’m also trying to think about what I’m grateful for every day because some days are harder than others. So, I just try and think about the things that I’m grateful for: the fact that the sun is shining and the fact that I have a roof over my head. The fact that our business is growing and the fact that we have jobs. I remind myself of these things very regularly because it helps me get out of that negative space.

On managing motherhood

Being a founder of a young business is really like having another child. Now I’m working at home with two kids and my husband runs a company as well. I haven’t had the opportunity in the last couple years to spend as much time with my kids as I would like. Now I can get a little hug midday and be part of my son’s educational process and learning letters with him and teaching him and coming up with fun ways for him to learn. That’s something I didn’t have the opportunity to do before and I have the opportunity to do now, so I feel really grateful that that’s part of the new normal. I feel like I’m a better mom for it.

On the future of the fitness industry

I think of it as like a wellness buffet, if you will. Pre-COVID, you could go to a yoga studio, you could go to a cycling studio, you could do at-home fitness, go for a run. You could do all of these things. I think what’s going to happen, which obviously we’re seeing now, is that at-home fitness is becoming a bigger piece of the pie, and I think it will have a bigger stake in people’s lives.

Do I think that people will go back to gyms? Of course. Do I think people will go back to boutique fitness studios? Of course. But I don’t know that they will go to them as often, now knowing that there are really convenient and great ways to work out at home and where you can get a really premium experience, a sense of community, and best in class instructors. I think the way that we’ve approached at-home fitness is very dynamic, it’s very fun and it’s very community-driven—and I think that’s what a lot of people look for in gyms and in boutique fitness studios.

I’ve always wondered how long it will take for people to recognize the value of being able to work out at home. Because of this, obviously people have found it in a more meaningful way.

A New Bachelor Special Is Coming in June—Here’s What You Need to Know

UPDATE: May 21, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. ET— We finally have some news about who’s joining The Bachelor: The Most Unforgettable—Ever, which is now being referred to as The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons–Ever!, according to a new statement from ABC.

Chris Harrison will use the June 8th premiere to reintroduce the world to Bachelor Sean Lowe. Here’s the current lineup for the first three episodes (there will be 10 total):

  1. Monday, June 8 (8-11 p.m. ET)—Sean Lowe (The Bachelor,
    season 17, 2013)
  2. Monday, June 15 (8-11 p.m. ET)—Kaitlyn Bristowe (The Bachelorette, season 11, 2015)
  3. Monday, June 22 (8-11 p.m. ET)—Ben Higgins (The Bachelor, season 20, 2016)

Here’s a first look:

Fun fact: Sean and Bachelor contestant Lesley broke the Guinness World Record for the longest on-screen kiss. He ended up proposing to Catherine Giudici, who he’s been married to since 2014. They share three children, which I guess means this show can actually work sometimes.

ORIGINAL POST: April 29, 2020 at 2:15 p.m. ET—

Considering all the drama currently going on in Bachelor Nation—between Peter Weber and Kelley Flanagan getting together, Peter fighting with Madison Prewett online, and Clare Crawley facing backlash over a shady tweet—it’s hard to believe the actual show hasn’t been on in months.

But alas, it’s officially been almost three months since Pilot Pete’s season came to an awkward end, and due to the coronavirus pandemic, we don’t know when we’ll be seeing a new season of Bachelor in Paradise or Crawley’s Bachelorette journey. Sure, we have the new musical dating show, Listen to Your Heart, but it’s just not the same.

But thankfully, The Bachelor is coming through with a new 10-episode event. On Monday, June 8, The Bachelor: The Most Unforgettable—Ever will debut, showcasing the “most dramatic” moments in Bachelor Nation’s 18-year history.

Dorit Kemsley Shares Her ‘Special Tuna Sauce’ Recipe

I met Dorit Kemsley last fall during a recording session for Glamour‘s podcast “What I Wore When,” and although I found her to be funny, warm, and game to riff on any topic, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star wasn’t someone I’d expect to be particularly comfortable behind an oven—this is a woman who told me the (very entertaining) story of why she once had to impulse-buy a $3,000 Alexander McQueen dress. Wrong! When we spoke next—during our nation’s quarantine—the topic at hand was food, not fashion.

“I love to cook, especially for my husband and kids,” she tells me when I asked for her go-to recipe, a tomato-based pasta she likes to call her “special tuna sauce,” which was created by her mother and originally used cod, until one night she was forced to improvise with tuna. “It instantly became a family favorite.”

Dorit stuck with the substitution—she now makes it with Tonnoto jarred tuna in oil—and says everyone she makes it for loves it, although her husband, PK, was slow to warm to its charms.

“I wanted to cook it for PK for years and he would always say not to because he [thought he] wouldn’t like it,” she says. “Then one day I cooked it for my son Jagger when he was 1 years old, which he loved, and PK tried it without knowing what the dish was. You can guess what came next. “This is the greatest thing you’ve ever made!” he told Dorit, and she’s been whipping it up for him ever since.

Out of curiosity, I asked Dorit what she’s snacking on in quarantine given our fridge fingers all seem to be used more frequently these days. “I’ve been naughty in quarantine. I snack on everything my daughter Phoenix and I bake—and I don’t usually have a sweet tooth—and chips at night while watching television with PK. But I also keep cut up fruits and veggies in the refrigerator so that’s always an easy snack to grab.”

Universal Studios Orlando Has A Reopening Date, And It’s Soon

Disney Springs at Walt Disney World began to welcome a few guests back yesterday, but it did so without any idea when the parks themselves will be open. Today, Universal Studios Orlando presented its plan for reopening to Orange County’s Economic Recovery Task Force and if the task force approves the plan, we could see the general public back in the parks as soon as June 5, with some guests getting in even before that.

In the presentation, the plan that was given would see the park open on June 1 to employees only, who would be the first to act as a sort of bench test to see how the new policies and procedures work. After a couple days of that, some VIPs and annual pass holders would be invited to the parks, to increase the volume of guests slightly and continue to test how things are working. Assuming everything in the test days goes according to plan, the park would open, to a limited capacity, on June 5.

There will, of course, be a lot of changes to the way that Universal Orlando handles guests. Face coverings will be required for both employees and all guests. Disposable masks will be provided to guests who do not arrive with them. In addition, things like valet parking will be halted outside the parks, and single rider lines will be closed, as maximizing attraction capacity is not currently a priority.

More to come…
